The Rise of the Empowered Citizens

From the Founders, Citizen ThinkT@nk

Greetings Malaysians,

Remember this date, 7.7.7. It is a unique day for Malaysians, as it is on this day that Citizen ThinkT@nk, an online democracy project in Malaysia is now open for all to participate.

The Citizen ThinkT@nk is an internet-based strategy to achieve the Vision of Knowledge Democracy through the following missions:

1. Ordinary citizens will be able to rate and review the performance of their elected representatives, so that transparency and accountability of politicians in Malaysia can be significantly increased
2. Ordinary citizens will be able to voice their opinion or post ideas for public policy development, so that only policies that are fully deliberated, discussed and endorsed by the community will be implemented by the government
3. Ordinary citizens who have contributed significantly to the society have a chance to stand for the general election, which is currently dominated by mainstream political parties.

You can help to realize the above Missions via any of the following:

a. Help create profiles of politicians in Malaysia, so that others will be able to rate them
b. Provide ratings to existing politicians in the databases
c. Help raise new issues and provide innovative solutions
d. Provide feedback to the new issues, or enhance the ideas suggested.

Finally we would be most grateful if you could also help to promote the site by forwarding this letter to 7 of your friends, and persuade your 7 friends to forward to another 7 friends. Remember, it is 7.7.7.

Thank you very much.
